FREE Poppy - Knitting and Crochet Patterns
Availability: In stock
These poppies are both worked by making 4 petals, a centre, leaves and a stem. The knitted version is worked entirely in stocking stitch and the crocheted version is worked in double crochet and treble crochet.
We are delighted to be working with The Royal British Legion on this six-month project and we would love YOU to get involved by knitting or crocheting poppies – either by using your own pattern or those created especially by Tina our Technical Knitting Editor, also to be featured on our website. Please send your finished poppies to Mary Bird, Head of Marketing, Woman’s Weekly, IPC Media, 110 Southwark Street. London SE1 0SU – and do feel free to include a donation.
Once we have the knitted/crocheted poppies, we will then hold reader days and you can make wreaths at a selection of Hobbycraft stores in 2014. We hope to place these on war memorials around the nation – more details to follow. Please visit womansweekly.co.uk for updates.
All funds collected will be donated to The Royal British Legion once the promotion ends.
Woman’s Weekly would love to hear of tales about family members who fought or nursed during the war. If you have any photos please feel free to include photocopies (I’m afraid we can’t return any photos).
The closing date for us to receive the poppies is 31st May 2014.
